Immerse Yourself in Scripture

We are discussing humbling yourself as a child of God and how to do this. We have already talked about the fact that God tells us that we should humble ourselves, or He says He can do it for us. We already discussed these topics.

Part 1: Choose Your Friends Wisely

Part 2: Be Mindful of Your Thoughts

Today, we will discuss the importance of immersing yourself in Scripture or The Word of God. We read this in 2 Timothy 3:16-17

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

Without knowing the Truth, you can and may fall for the lies. Let's begin with a prayer.

“Holy Father, all the praise and glory be to You. You are the great I Am, and there is none like you. Thank you for life itself, life everlasting, and everything in between. As we enter into Your Word, we pray for eyes to see, ears to hear, and to understand Your Truth and revelations. We thank You again and pray in Your precious name, amen.”

If you have your Bible, turn to Titus Chapter 2. Ready?

“But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine.”

Stop. What you teach and what you learn must be in harmony with the Word of God. {Holding up the Bible} Anything that does not align with this is a lie or simply wrong.

“Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and steadfast. Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine.”

See, it says we should not drink! No, we should not get drunk and lose control of our senses. We older folks should be of sound mind and founded on scripture so that we may teach, comfort, and guide the young as they grow in their journey.

“They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.”

This is under God’s perfect plan for the family, which is a whole other sermon. Do not get hung up on that.

“Likewise, urge the younger men to be self-controlled. Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching, show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us.”

The only way to accomplish this is through scripture.

“Bondservants are to be submissive to their masters in everything; they are to be well-pleasing, not argumentative, not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior.”

“I’m no slave.” Well, yeah, you are, again, that is another sermon. However, look at it as your job. The Word declares that we do everything as if we are doing it to the Lord, and we shall be rewarded.

“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his possession who are zealous for good works.”

There is no way to do this without this. {Holding up the Bible}

“Declare these things; exhort and rebuke with all authority. Let no one disregard you.”

As you grow in your faith, it's important to establish a solid foundation. You are responsible for building this foundation yourself; God will not do it for you. You create a strong foundation by reading the Word and following the Will of the Father. You can choose to build your life on either sand or rock, and your actions will determine the outcome when life's storms come.

To build a solid foundation, it is essential to engage with the Word, spend time with God, and allow the Holy Spirit to connect with your spirit. The Word offers peace, answers your questions, and provides hope, as stated in Romans 15:4.

"For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures, we might have hope."

How do we do this? This, laying a foundation in God?

The Cornerstone: Yeshua, or Jesus Christ, of course.

Age-appropriate stories about Jesus’s life, love, and teachings can introduce you to the real and truthful Yeshua. Not the growing lies we see as all these false churches keep popping up.

The Bricks: God's Word

Bible stories and memorizing scripture verses can make God’s word a part of your daily life.

The Mortar: Prayer.

When you pick this up. {Holding up the Bible}, and you open it. Pray. Ask God to be with you. As we pray before we begin to study His Word here, ask Him to give you eyes to see. Ask Him to show you His truth and to help you understand what He wants you to know. Pray to Him that you do not miss what He wants to show you.

Here is a fact that you must always remember: Forget the world. Any church that does not have Jesus as the cornerstone, as the center of everything, and as the only way to God is the wrong church. RUN! Do not walk. Run away. Jesus has to be the cornerstone. He even called Himself this.

“Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the Scriptures:
"'The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
This was the Lord's doing,
And it is marvelous in our eyes?” Matthew 21:42

Call Him Jesus. Call Him Yeshua. He is God. You cannot get to God if you leave out God. We live in crazy and confusing times. We have churches popping up all over the place that not only condone sin but glorify it. They welcome it and call it compassion and love. They teach lies all about serving the creature instead of the Creator. Read Romans 1. Read 2 Timothy 4:3. This is being fulfilled before our eyes as we speak.

Many of them are rejecting the Bible. They say it is not important. Why do you think this is? Maybe because of this fact.

“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12

Or maybe because of WHO the Word of God is? Yes, I said who.

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14

If you are going to leave Jesus out, then you have to leave the Word out. They are the same.

It was not as predominant back then, however, look what Paul warns. The warning is even more important today. Turn to Galatians 1. Start at verse 6

“I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel-- not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed. For am I now seeking the approval of man or of God? Or am I trying to please a man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.” Galatians 1:6-10

If anyone. Including me. If anyone tells you something that you cannot find in the Word of God or tells you something contrary to the Word of God, they are lying to you. It is this simple. I do not care what they call themselves: Reverend, Bishop, Priest, Teacher, or Pastor. I do not care if they went out and bought a white collar. I do not care what they call their church or what they call their “religion.” If what they are teaching is an abomination to God and opposite His Word, they are false teachers teaching lies from the evil one. Make no mistake about it.

Some of these individuals are quite skilled and charismatic. However, some distort the Word of God so that it sounds acceptable, even though it is no longer the truth but a deception. They use terms like love, compassion, empathy, and understanding. They aim to label sin as good while labeling those who speak out against sin as bad.

God says, "Thou Shalt Not Murder." We say, "But wait, what if little Suzy is minding her own business, and some old evil guy rapes her? She should not be punished with a child for the rest of her life. What if that old evil guy is her own Father? It is compassionate to say that we can 'correct' that mistake and end her pregnancy. For whatever reason, it should be a Woman's right to choose what to do with her body. Right?"

God says homosexuality and transgenderism is sin. We say, "How can a long-term, loving, kind relationship be evil? And while we are at it, why can't these two get married? Is it not compassionate to want 'equality' Oh, and is it not compassionate to say they should not have to hear what they are doing is wrong? So shut up about it already."

God says there is only one way to get to Heaven, and that is??? Through Him. Who? Yeshua or Jesus, call Him what you will, but He is God. We say, "That is a narrow-minded, exclusive, hate-filled, ignorant view. Compassion tells us that all religions are equal, and that people can believe whatever they want. Your 'Truth' is no better than anyone else's 'truth.' So, keep your 'version' of truth to yourself."

Without fully immersing yourself in scripture daily, you can and may very well fall for the lies and the propaganda that is growing out there daily. You go to church, you hear a passage of two, then you leave. For the next 166.5 hours, you fill yourself with news, secular music, TV, gossip, and sin. That is not having a solid foundation. That is not filling yourself with the truth. That is a habit. That is a feeling of obligation. That is tradition. Maybe you are going to church because your parents did. Maybe because your spouse does, because you feel you should, yet you have not been willing to dedicate any more time to actual prayer and or reading The Word.

There are no contradictions in The Word. Zero. There are differing points of view, incorrect interpretations, and misunderstandings. There are, sadly, even twisted and misused verses. However, that does not come from God.

“Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. Do not add to his words, lest he rebuke you and you be found a liar.” Proverbs 30:5-6

Spend time in His Word. Digest it. Do not just scan it, but mindfulness, and prayerfully read it. Immerse yourself in it. Make daily time in the Word a habit. Do you have to get up early? Get up. Stay up later? Stay up. Skip a TV show. Skip it. Do whatever you have to do to get the Word of God in you. Then, you will no longer have to worry about the lies out there. You will hear the truth. And the Truth will set you free.

“See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.” Colossians 2:8

Have you been adopted? If not, say this prayer. Right now. Wherever you may be, say it in your own words, and do not doubt in your heart. God will hear you. He will send the Spirit of Life to you. Let us pray.

"Oh, heavenly Father, Lord God. I am a sinner. I know this. I know there is nothing I can do to change that. But I know you can. I accept Yeshua's sacrifice for me. I believed He rose from the dead. I repent of my sins. Please send the Spirit of Adoption into my life. Help me to get to know the real you. Save me. Please. In the name of Yeshua, Amen!"

That's it. It is that simple. Now tell someone what you have just done. "That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in your heart that God hath raised him from the dead, you shall be saved." Romans 10:9. You need to find a Church that God leads you to and be baptized the way Jesus said to be. You are now a Child of God. A New Creature. You "have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him." Colossians 3:10

May the comfort of the Holy Ghost and the peace of our Lord Yeshua be with you all. May God bless and be with you always.

Until next time, be blessed, be a blessing, and Yeshua is Lord!
